My Process

Step 1: Consultation

I offer a free 30-minute consultation.  This conversation will be a high-level review of the current situation and discuss potential options for the next steps.

If we mutually agree to move forward at the end of this conversation, I will forward you an engagement contract and release of information for your signature, as well as a link to a shared drive for you to upload documents.

Step 2: Intake

Case intakes start with a full review of records, including past and current IEPs, assessments, and academic and medical records, as necessary and appropriate.

We will then have an extended intake meeting to review your concerns about the current situation, goals, and purpose for engaging my services, as well as your journey with your child and the district. At the end of the meeting, we will create an action plan for the first steps of our work together.

Step 3: Advocacy

The advocacy plan is specific to your student and situation, but can include:

  • Attending IEP and 504 meetings

  • Help with understanding the IEP process and documents.

  • Negotiating with the District on your behalf

  • Assistance with interpreting assessments and evaluations for Special Education

  • Communication to the school, District, or other professionals working with your child

  • Providing support and advice

  • Development of an individualized and creative step-by-step plan unique to your child

  • Referrals to service providers

  • Referrals to Special Education Non-Public Schools and Private Schools, as and if appropriate.

  • Drafting, filing, and participating in Mediation
